The Jesttacars

The Jesttacars are both an extremely old and creative race that are obsessed with constantly creating various mortal and beast races as well as other abominations that only serve to torment those of the waking and dream worlds.

Information:

Outside of the dreamspace The Jesttacars are probably one of the most unknown and potential powerful races currently known to us as there is very little documentation, reports and even sightings of them, however within the dreamspace they are familiar to all intelligent races with each race having a completely different take on them; for example The Kalines view The Jesttacars with respect but they aren’t afraid in showing their own fear of them as many of their people have been taken by these mysterious creature for one purpose are another, as a side note it is believed that they widely dreaded and feared “Spider-Cat” was created by The Jesttacars using Kalines that had abducted; another example would be The Klowns who are completely and utterly attached to those who had created them often following them around like adoring fans (if those fans just happened to be murderous clown-like creatures), in addition they will also act as some form of guard dog as Jesttacars often use them to protect sites of great importance to them; the final example is The Worms of Krunthar who view The Jesttacars as an unwanted ally, I say this because The Worms have a noticeable distaste for The Jesttacars due to their creation of monstrous life forms with no real ideas as to how or why there are even doing it, but The Worms also understand that The Jesttacars are powerful and they will need them when The Wanderers return for “The End of All Dreams”. One thing to keep in mind about The Jesttacars is their individual uniqueness as only a hand full of them have been spotted within the last couple million years give or take and each one looks completely different to another suggesting that they could possibly be a sui-generis race.

In terms of appearance each Jesttacar that has been documented looks completely different from one another, however they do have certain constants that are interesting. The first is that all Jesttacars often appear in some formal dress with their clothes “emitting colours that are hard to look at” and they present themselves in “shapes and angles that make you feel beautifully sick” , this formal attire often includes soft gloves, long baggy pants, buttoned up corsets and even various tools, notes, scrolls and weapons. The second constant is their masks that are described as beautiful yet horrific, indestructible yet fragile and serve as both a prop as well as the anchor of a Jesttacars entire being for it is said that a Jesttacar’s body is simply a hollowed husk for which an immense power resides in held their only by their perfectly crafted masks, in addition many primitive and long dead cultures have artifacts that look similar Jesttacar Masks, this could possibly mean either they were influencing civilisations via their dreams or they have actually physically travelled and ran into these cultures.

In the modern age many consider The Jesttacars to be a myth, a legend, something that was born out of a dream someone had or a tale a storyteller told around a campfire to keep warm at night, but for those within The Order of Beskella and any individual that partakes in oneiromancy The Jesttacars are real, and they are more eldritch and terrifying then anyone can even comprehend.
