The Blackhand
The Blackhand is one of the oldest factions in the galaxy with the simple goal of assassination, while they have been present since before The Collective Age they have kept to the Shadows to such a degree that many people regard them as a fictious legend.
Information:
During The Collective Age The Blackhand kept people of all ages up at night, from the little kid that had misbehaved to the disgusting old men with secrets to hide, they were all scared that if they stepped a single toe out of line then The Blackhand would come to end their lives. In reality while Blackhand often used their “Shadowmancy” to intimidate, scare and traumatised people not all of them were sadistic blood thirsty monsters, instead the majority of Blackhand members at this time were simply people sick to death of the corruption of The Collective, seeing guilty people go unpunished and watching as those who were meant to protect them were instead abusing their power, and so they banded together and launched their war against those who they deemed wicked. The Blackhand itself is thought to have existed since before The Collective Age as documents from First Age, Second Age and even Old Races describe similar factions that took up the same fight as The Blackhand, perheps they were simply different versions of The Blackhand, or maybe the ideals of The Blackhand is something to is universal and therefore eternal?
In terms of structure The Blackhand is a bit of mystery, however with numerous books, stories and documentaries being released about the supposed faction a rough idea has been form which until proven otherwise remains fact. First off it is believed that The Blackhand works in sects with their being no overarching council or leadership, the belief behind this is that their moral codes, tenants and rules will govern them and steer them right, now this has work in some cases with some sects going on to change the course of galactic history, but in others, lets just say mistakes were made. The leaders of a sect are called “The Dark Masters” with each Dark Master usually specialising in one field or another be that combat, stealth, crafting or so on, together they form a solid leadership roll as each Dark Master must be of sound mind and strong spirit in order to leader a large group of assassins. Next you have “The Death Masters” which are the elite assassins of their sect who have proven their unwavering loyalty to The Blackhand, these killing machines are often sent of the most important and dangerous missions that The Blackhand has to offer or they are given the privilege of teaching the younger generation of Blackhand assassins. Finally we have “Assassins” which is someone that has been fully accepted by the sect and is now free to pursuit missions and targets as they see fit, the only rules are they must follow the tenants of The Blackhand and report to their Dark Masters with any crucial information relating to galactic stability.
In the modern age The Blackhand is far from what they once were, before they would fight and kill so that the innocent may live in relatively comfort free of corruption and crimes going unpunished, now they are simply a faction of bloodthirsty killers who enjoy the coin and kill more then the reason behind the kill. Additionally they have lost much of their “religious nature” such as faith in “The Dark Elder” as well as belief in “The Dark Prophet” as well as “The Dark Prophecy”
