The Surrogates
Surrogates are as far removed from being civilised as you could hope to get, this is due to their twisted forms as well as their lack of their identity, coupled with a level of insanity that no mortal could ever achieve.
Information:
It was widely believed that The Surrogates were created for infiltration, assassination and replacing individuals who The Administration needed on their side, however it has since been uncovered that their initial creation was nothing more then a vanity project headed by the deluded genius known as “Doctor Divinity” in order to full merge both the organic and the inorganic, he was successful if only in part as these Surrogates are “born” of both flesh and machine, but their minds are fractured, their spirits malformed and their very purpose so close to them but so far that they may never reach it. After their creation and it being apparent that they held no use as Administration Guards they were to be kept within Doctor Divinity’s laboratory so that they may serve as test subjects for greater creations, this only increased the overall insanity of The Surrogates as they were kept at the second lowest level of Divinity’s lab where it was dark, damp and the only sounds to be heard were the whaling moans and terrified cries of beings that were opposed to the very life they clung so desperately onto. While he himself considered them to be failures, Doctor Divinity was known to make frequent visits to see his surrogates, one of his published journal entries read; “As many mortals and immortals alike constantly seek an answer to their existence and why they were made at all, I find myself on the opposite end of that thought, instead I am left wondering why I create at all, I created because The Administration constantly demand it of me, but in myself the question “why do I create life?” simply rings a hollowed response”; I find it interesting that a mad man like Divinity was so obsessed with what he could create, he seldom asked himself if he should create.
In terms of appearance, Surrogates are typically bipedal creatures that stand anywhere between 5ft to 10ft depending on a number of factors including age and damaged with the older and more damaged they are the bigger and taller they will often be. Their physical appearance can only be described as “disgusting” as they are a mixture of bloated necrotic flesh, complex/inoperable technology components and newly formed mutations that fuse the 2 together with often devastating results. Interestingly it seems that during The Afterlife Age, The Surrogates evolved to combat The Hereafters by being able to fuse any form of technology or flesh to their own body, this was first note was a Surrogate cut the wings, arms and spine out of an angel and fused them to it’s body in order to kill a small group of devils.
In the modern age The Surrogates are simply the left behind creations of a long dead galactic empire as many galactic citizens have never even heard of The Surrogates let only seen one, but they are still around with many of them being found within buried Administration facilities, ship wrecks or simply just in the wild in some cases, all of them however are only ever seen muttering, chanting or screaming to themselves as they are trapped within a realm of insanity that one pure living being could ever really understand.
