The Crones
The Crones are a race that aren’t very popular or widely represented in the galactic community with many people including themselves, as they are content with remaining in the less populated parts of the galaxy like The Dark Realm.
Information:
Contrary to popular belief, The Crones weren’t created as part of a cult ritual or in reverence to some eldritch entity, instead they were born out of a desire to stabilize the hereafter population by forcing spirits back into their bodies they left when they died. While at first necromancy was used, it was revealed that only a small fraction of an individual’s spirit would return and a Hereafter would still exist. Eventually the idea of utilising a spirit summoning ritual and the deus symbol for “Gate” was implanted by “The Order of Beskella”, and the results were horrific spiritual mutations and bodily transformations to the individual, but ultimately their spirit was locked within their formally deceased body and they were now effective “immortal”. Additionally their use throughout The Afterlife Age was very minimalistic as they had no desire to build, no will to fight and no overall passion for life itself, so when they were “born” they were either cast within dungeons or carted off for experimentation.
In terms of appearance, The Crones resemble crows with clawed hands, a pair of feathered wings and large boned beaks. Their faces highly resemble that of crows and other birds with a long face that is covered in black feathers and ends in a long pointed beak, in addition the eyes of a crone seem notably devoid of colour or light instead appearing as static white. Additionally for some reason or another Crones don’t possess legs and if their “previous” form had legs they will “shed” during The Crone transformation process, in addition Crones actually hover instead instead of utilising their wings which are instead used to simply gain higher ground, it isn’t known why they hover but there are plenty of theories like they are somehow disconnected from our universe and therefore aren’t bound by it’s rules.
In the modern age, The Crones are rarely seen within The Colonized Sector and they actually have the lowest population count being at around only 100, however it is believed that there are anywhere between 1 billion and 1 trillion crones still roaming the galaxy. Interestingly, The Cultural Preservation Society or C.P.S is actually trying to find a way to access a crones old memories as well as personality, and in their own words; “We want to help The Crones clean the gunk off of their spirits and minds”.
