The Demon Apes of The Flaming Pits are a very dangerous race that has plagued The Soulscape and it’s inhabitance for centuries, similar to their demonic cousins these creatures only live for one thing, to inflict sadistic pain on all living things.

The true how’s and why’s of The Demon Apes is mainly surrounded by myths and legends with the most popular being “The Folly of King Vantwiss” and it is a story well liked by the masses. In Brief it is said long ago there was a mighty empire of honourable ape warriors led by “King Vantwiss” and his empire had conquered as far as the eye could see, but the king wanted more, always more as even the finest gems or the strongest weapons weren’t enough to satisfy him, so in arrogance King Vantwiss set his sights upon “Mount Tundunena” where so many legends say lays a demon deep within it’s flaming pits. Despite his council, his guardsmen and even some of his most loyal subjects best attempts at dissuading him from this foolish mission, King Vantwiss remained stubborn and pig headed, and with a thunderous voice he ordered his forced to march towards The Flaming Pits of Mount Tundunena. Once there King Vantwiss bellowed as loud as he could hoping he could wake the demon and that he did, for the mountain itself was a demon, as the demon sprang to life it flung molten lava through the air and the demon roared so fiercely it could be heard clearly from “Avalon” all the way to the lands of Faradune, in the blink of eye many demons become crawling out of the body the towering mountain demon and overwhelmed the king’s forces, those who were turned to ash were bitten and turned into demonic hybrids with King Vantwiss being the first of many, before it had even begun King Vantwiss’ conquest was over and his empire destroyed. It is said that “The Eternal King Vantwiss” sits within The Flaming Pits of Mount Tundunena cursed to bathe in molten lava for all eternity while his regret ridden tears simply sizzle away.
In terms of appearance, The Demon Apes are hulking creatures with their smallest being around 15ft and their tallest being beyond 30ft tall, they stand bipedally but have the ability to use their hands to travel in a quadrupedal way as well. Their hair has transformed into a hard yet soft crimson rock-like material, this material is more present and thicker on their arms, knees, back and the sides of their neck with the portion on their necks sprouting into sharpened horns. Interestingly all Demon Apes possess a tail which is actually a retractable extension of their spine, surprisingly this “bone tail” is extremely durable as it is often used to grab prey, hold/use items and even as a weapon as many warriors sharpen the ends of their tails into dagger tips.
In todays world, Demon Apes are a rare sight with The Soulscape or The Galaxy but they aren’t unheard of, for example Demon Apes have been seen within The Untamed Sector especially where The Offlock Empire holds great influence, and in the soulscape a few demon apes have been accepted with “Berlak, The Fire Keepers” inner circle.
