Souls
Souls are a central part of many cultures in the universe both in the past and present, they have influenced entire civilisations, inspired great heroes, served as a comfort to the pathless and even been used to to forged skilled fighters each with their own “desires” to fulfil.

Defining just what a soul is will test the greatest minds creation itself has ever known, some describe it as a deep feeling accompanied with vision of fantastical things, others claim it to be a non-vocal voice that guides you along the path, and a few reason that it is certain knowledge and skills obtained from seemingly nowhere, however in my experience a Soul is all these things and yet so much more as you’ll come to find. The most commonly accepted definition of a soul is a deep rooted connection between a being from the galaxy and a being from the soulscape creating a powerful bond that can do things still unknown, this information comes from The Sennu and before them The Baril Monks as souls play a big role within their factions. The “Soul Connection” isn’t a physical, spiritual or psychokinetical, instead it is an unknown, almost nothing is known about what a soul actually is, questions like how they form? why they form? when they form? or even why some beings possess souls and some don’t? Have gone unanswered for perheps millions of years.
It is important to understand that there are little to no rules and solid facts when it comes to souls with the only main one being that a being can only ever have 1 soul, if one half of the connection dies then the remaining will effectively be “soulless” which can often leave them depressed, withdrawn and sad sometimes without knowing why they feel this way. Interestingly an experiment conducted in The Unity Age uncovered another “fact” about souls being that they give a person a certain glow or rather uniqueness; in short the experiment 3 soulless individuals and documented the changes that happened when they “obtained” a soul, the first summoned the courage to quit is dead end job and rerolled in The UCM, the second left a world a drug fuelled crime and sought to a live a normal life, and the third grew up to be a galaxy renowned artist that goes by the name “Qui Sanguine”. Additionally a soul connection is completely random with there being no way to alter or influence ones soul, for example a God could be connected to a Gooma, a hound could be connected to a plant, there was even a case of an young girl having a soul connection with The Lord of Darkness Faradune himself, although the evidence for that is a bit suspect and most likely the product of a talented storyteller, the point is that a soul is something that is powerful, but at the same time it is an unknown that not even the “experts” understand.
The effects of a soul connection can be both subtle and widely obvious depending upon the soul connection itself, for example in the young and the elderly a soul is commonly much more powerful then in the middling sections of their lives, the reason for this might be because of a child’s innocence as well as the elderly’s clarity. The most common effect of a soul connection is called “Soul Characteristics” which causes a being to be “subtly” influence indirectly by their soul, for example a human that is connected to a Lizard Folk might keep a lot of reptiles as pets or have a vast interesting in lizards, another example could be a Uldinian that is connected to a vampire taking a vast interest in Sangius and even partaking in the consumption of blood. Another effect is called “Wognog” which essentially allows one half of the soul to view that the other is doing with main stating the experience to be “dreaming but without the vibrant colours”, this can sometimes be a natural ability as instead of dreaming one could instead be Wognogging, however it can also be educed either through alchemy, guided meditation or psychokinetics. Finally “Soul Strikes” is an effect that usually only appears on those with a strong soul connection, the effect involves one part of a soul sustaining the same if not similar injuries to the other part of the soul, normally this involves any physical attack and is often confused with possession deaths which is understandable, it is important to note as well that diseases and illnesses aren’t applicable here.
