Isamoths

Isamoths are a race of water dwelling spectres that are known for their disgusting stench, their “unique” appearance and also for their urge to rip out and eat the hearts of living beings.

What is it?:

Isamoths are strange aquatics spectres that are as savage as they are strange. Unlike some spectres like Charlavons, Vampires, Dopplers and even Skin-Walkers, no rational instances of these aquatics monsters has ever been observed or documented, meaning that the “Intelligence Argument” doesn’t apply to these beasts. In terms of appearance, Isamoths are tall, slender bipedal fish-like monsters with fins, gills, scaly skin and some even possess tails. Additionally since all Isamoths are blind they are able to use a form of echolocation in order to navigate the area around them, pair this with their incredible sense of smell and you have a beast that is able to hunt down their prey before it even knows its being hunted. Finally similarly to many types of beasts, Isamoths possess the ability to unleash a powerful ear splitting scream, while this is mainly used as a method of better seeing their surroundings it has also been used by them to deafen targets allowing them to land attacks upon them, just for reference an Isamoths scream is so powerful that if direct towards a spaceship it has the chance of shutting down it’s systems.

Where does it live?:

Most Isamoths inhabit various aquatic regions like swamps, rivers, glaciers, wetlands and bogs just to name a few. Within these places an Isamoth will hunt and kill prey until it finds a suitable place for a nests, then it will go out gathering resources so it may build up it’s nest and establish a hunting ground, finally it will lure in beasts and mortals alike using it’s spectre shapeshifting abilities. There are tales and rumours of Isamoths that have somehow managed to live in dry places like deserts, canyons and even asteroids, though the last could be the result of simply a creative mind.

What does it do?:

With Isamoths showing no signs of intelligence, most mainly sleep, hunt, kill and procreate. Interestingly despite their ability to produce milk from a gland located in their mouth, Isamoths do lay and hatch from eggs making them part of only a few animals and beasts that are capable of both of these. Additionally with the establishment of their hunting grounds, Isamoths tend to leave their young within their nests while they go out and prowl the area surrounding their nests looking for resources and food.

How to kill it?

Similar to many other beasts including other spectres, Isamoth’s skin burns when they come into contact with white ash and their nervous system can be heavily damaged if silver is introduced into their body. Additionally a much more common way to deal with a large amount of Isamoths is to simply poison the water that is connect to their nest, this method was famously used by the beast hunter and administration supporter “Winston J Swanflock” during his “Galactic Safari: The Adventures of Winston J Swanflock” television series.

Different Types of Isamoths:

The Deep Ones

These are the biggest and most violent Isamoths that are currently known to the wider galaxy. Typically they inhabit deep bodies of water usually up to 2,500ft underwater, but they still make their nests within bogs and return to the surface to tend to their young, however instead of feeding on unsuspecting mortals they instead choose to feed solely on Aquatics. In fights, Deep Ones are terrifying as they are able to tower above most of their prey, deliver devastating attacks and are able to move from place to place within the blink of an eye, however it has been noted by many beast hunters that a Deep One’s sense are diluted making it easier to slip by or stealth kill a Deep One. In terms of appearance Deep Ones normally stand at around 16ft to 18ft tall and have an amazing amount of muscle mass, in addition their skin is hard and corral like which gives it the ability to deflect bullets and shake off most melee strikes.

Angelic Lights

These are Isamoths that have the ability to produce a powerful and extremely bright light from a relatively long appendage upon their head, similar to an angler fish these Isamoths use their light to lure in prey, however they have also been seen using it as a weapon. In terms of appearance Angelic Lights are normally fatter then most Isamoths as with all their prey coming to them they have no need to move, in addition due to mainly dwelling within their nests or within large bodies of water their skin is a noticable pale white colour, while their eyes are as crimson as the red king himself.

Carnavorns

These are feral Isamoths that have completely lost their minds and now only how the desire to hunt, kill and eat. These Isamoths were first discovered by “Winston J Swanflock” during the first few years of his “Galactic Safari”, a direct quote from his journal reads; “we awoke in the dead of night to terrorising screams and harrowing bloody gurgles, as I grabbed Laleeta, Bartholomew was already wired and ready to fight. All went quiet for a time, but as I lit a flame, illuminated in front of me was pale green, bloodied and injury aquatic creature that I had no doubt was Isamoth in origin, and so I laid the ground with white ash and I blew the creatures head clean off.” Interestingly autopsies performed on these creatures reveals a large amount of swelling in the brain from an unknown source, the most common theory is that Isamoths are vulnerable to some sort of virus that causes this swelling, however this has yet to be proven.
