Zhemimers
Zheimers are terrors upon the galaxy that feed upon the brains of living beings stealing their memories and changing their perception of reality, in addition it is widely believed by many beast hunters and beastologists that Zheimers are the most powerful spectres.
What is it?:
Zheimers are particularly vicious and cruel spectres that have the urge to feed upon the brains of living beings, in particular they have a certain love for the amygdala (emotions) and the hippocampus (memories), however they all most often times consume the entire brain. In terms of appearance, Zheimers are floating multi-limbed insectoids that have a somewhat similar appearance to Demons with rock like a skin and to quote one beast hunter, “Malice carved right into their very being”, however after extensive research there appears to be no relation between these 2 beasts. Their most famous feature is their over extending tail that hangs loosely as it is attached to their lower back and is connected to their inner shell, this tail is often used to wrap and grip a victim before it begins the process of slowly eating away at their brain.
Where does it live?:
Unlike other spectres, Zheimers will often make their nests within a targets home, now this can vary as many documents and encounters outline Zheimers making their nests in attics, basements, shed, garages and other such places within a victims home that has been left untouched or rather abandoned by their owners. Although some encounters claim Zheimers have been found within caves, mines, canyons and other such wild places, it is still widely reliable information that they are most commonly found within the immediate area around their targets house.
What does it do?:
Unlike all other spectres that only hold the ability to shape-shift into living beings, Zheimers are only capable of shape-shifting into objects like plants, bowls, wardrobes, music boxes and other such objects, while a reason for this hasn’t really been identified it is believed that this works in the Zheimers favour as an object is much easier to impersonate then an actually living being. Without a doubt the most interesting aspect of the Zheimer race is their “reflective skin”, in some detail Zheimers are only capable of being observed via reflections like mirrors, glasses, puddles of water and other sources of reflections, as a result they are the galaxy’s most dangerous predators because unless you know what you’re looking for, or happen to catch a glance of them in a reflection then you’re almost certainly dead. Additionally the more violent Zheimers will often violently latch onto their victims back and will then aggressive sink their dagger-like fangs into the back of their victims heads while they suck out their brains.
How to kill it?:
The hardest part of killing a Zheimer is catching it first, for that a mirror is needed or some type of reflective eyewear, however the latter isn’t recommended as it makes actually fighting the Zheimer more difficult, in addition for those who are versed in magic you could utilise mirror magic in order to temporally reveal a Zheimers form. In order to kill one could utilise pyromancy or some form of laser weaponry to damaged it’s shell and burn it’s exposed flesh. For those who are a bit more skilled you could use a sharp object to cut the Zheimers tail off or break the shell and pierce the beasts skull, however it should go without saying that even getting close to a Zheimer is extremely dangerous and all precautions should be taken. Finally it is important to note that unlike most spectres, both white ash and silver are completely unless against Zheimers.
Different Types of Zheimers
Executioners
These are Zheimers that are the definition of terrifying as they maliciously strip away all that it is that makes a living being unique. In terms of appearance, Executioners have rocky purple skin, various spikes along their body and a thousand razor sharp teeth encased within a large toothy grin, interestingly Executioners have a very “human-like” appearance with the main point of this being their face. The most terrifying aspect of an Executioner is their venom known as “Noose” which they use to paralyze their victims body but leave their mind intact, in this state a victim is unable to move, however they feel everything, every bite the Executioner takes, every memory the Executioner steals and every shred of uniqueness the Executioner consumes, and the victim is simply “along for the ride” as one beast hunter put it.
